New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory, January 13, 2015 – Hundreds of New Jersey's track and field athlete crossed the Hudson River to compete in this year’s Big North Indoor Championships.

Will Sidaros was one of meet’s up-and-coming competitors. The Indian Hills athlete was able to outrun Hackensack’s Andre Grant and Northern Highland’s Liam Moran in the boys Freedom-3 55m hurdles. The three were in sync until the last two barriers, where Sidaros began to pull away and finish in 8:00. Grant and Moran fought fiercely for second and third, finishing in 8:103 and 8:108, respectively.

Kyle Ellerson of Bergen Catholic ran to a 6:30 victory in the boys United-1 55m dash.

Saint Jacob Diodonet of West Milford looked strong while winning the Independence-4 boys 55m dash in 6.40. Tabansi Collins of Wayne Valley was able to fend off West Milford’s Austin Hopler for second, the two dipping hard at the line in 8:604 and 8:609 respectively.

Caleb Duffany and Sam Siegel of Demarest were both able to clear 13’ 6” in the boys National-5 pole vault. The two dueled throughout the night, challenging each other with back-to-back clearances, but it was Duffany who was able to take the win over his teammate on attempts.

Don Bosco Prep’s William Bozian ran a gutsy 3rd leg in the boys United-1 4x400m, passing Bergen Catholic on the third turn. The move put Don Bosco ahead of the field and anchor leg Mike Stragapede in position to secure the 3:35.90 victory.

“It was my last race, so I gave it all I had,” said Bozian after the race. “I knew if I waited too long I wouldn’t be able to make a move.”

Kristina Langan of Wayne Hills had a great day in the Independence-4 girls pole vault. The New Balance Outdoor Nationals competitor used her experience to win the night’s event, clearing 11’ 7” with room to spare.

Catherine Pagano of Northern Highlands HS ran away with the Freedom-3 girls 3200m in 10:47.50. She also won the 800m in 2:14.42 at The Armory’s EmblemHealth Hispanic Games this past weekend and will surly be back at The Armory for more.

Toni James of Teaneck coasted to a 7.20 victory in the girls National-5 55m.

Maria Acosta of Paramus Catholic broke away from the girls United-1 55m field early and secured a 7.30 victory. The dynamic athlete went on to also record 400m and 200m victories before the night’s end.
